Prayer Blanket Ministry

The Prayer Blanket Ministry was started in 2003 as a comfort ministry.  Tapping into the comfort we have all gotten as children from our “blankey or lovey” we decided to collect throw blankets and fill them with the power of prayer.  We fill blankets for anyone who might have health issues, celebrating the birth of a new baby, for military personnel, someone who has lost a loved one, spiritual needs and unspoken needs.  To request a Prayer Blanket, there are red blanket request cards around the church or you can request one through the Pastor or by contacting Kendalle Wilt, Tina Brunner, or Jacki Rogers. Once a request is received we will choose a blanket from our blanket cabinet, assign it a praying hands sheet, and pass it during our three worship services.  As each person prays for the recipient, they circle a set of hands with a heart.  Once the praying hands sheet if filled 100 sets of hands have prayed for the recipient.  Then the blanket is delivered to the person for whom it is intended.  There is also a Prayer Blanket Station outside the Fellowship Hall where you can pray over blankets as well. These blankets are free.  It is a purely donation driven ministry.  Some folks donate throws, some crochet throws and others make a monetary donation by placing an envelope in the offering directing the money to go to the Prayer Blanket Ministry.  To date, we have filled over 100 blankets, sent them to Oklahoma, Mississippi, Florida, and Iraq, just to name a few.
