The Prayer Blanket Ministry started in 2003 as a comfort ministry. Tapping into the comfort we all have received as children from our own special "blankey" or "lovey". We decided to collect throw blankets and fill them with the power of prayer. Blankets are filled with prayer for anyone with health issues, celebrations of the birth of a new baby, military personnel, those who have lost a loved one, spiritual needs and unspoken requests.
To request a Prayer Blanket, contact the church office at 834-3431 or by completing a red blanket request card found in the church information center. Once a request is received, we will choose a blanket from our blanket cabinet, assign a praying hands sheet and request that our church family lay hands and pray for that particular need. As the blanket is passes, it is filled with 100 hands on prayers!
We have a Prayer Blanket station outside our Fellowship Hall where you can pray over the blankets and for the recipients. This is a donation driven ministry, free to all recipients. Donations of handmade or purchased blankets are welcomed. Monetary donations can be designated by placing them in an envelope marked "Prayer Blankets".
To date, we have filled over 100 blankets, sending them to Oklahoma, Mississippi, Florida and Iraq.
Thursdays during the school year from 5:15 - 7:00pm. For all first through sixth grade children. An evening of fellowship and learning about Christ. Supper is served. Contact the church office or Tina Brunner for more information.
Third Friday of the month at 6:30pm in the Otterbein Fellowship Hall. We accept donations of food, necessities and gently used clothes and shoes. Currently looking for school supplies (backpacks, lunch boxes, single serving applesauce and fruit cups). Greatest need is for baby and elementary aged children. Donations can be placed in the bin near the fellowship entryway.
The Care Team coordinates many ministries to meet the needs of concerns of our congregation. Making meals for those recently hospitalized, providing transportation to doctor appointments, visiting shut-ins, yard work...these are some examples of ways we are here to help when a need arises. If you or someone you know has a need or concern, please contact the church office at 834-3431.
MISSION TRIP 2015
Our mission team returned from Brooklyn New York after working on a home damaged by Hurricane Sandy. Twelve members spent their week working with demolition, insulation and dry wall repair.
SOLES 4 Souls
Sole Hope is going strong. We will be cutting patterns for soles of shoes which will be shipped to Africa to be assembled and used to protect the feet of those less fortunate than us.
